Lean Six Sigma Black Belts are responsible for managing complex breakthrough projects and supporting improvement teams with Lean and Six Sigma techniques.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belts work both on improving processes and in complex data-driven projects. The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt masters all Lean techniques as well as statistical and advanced analytical Six Sigma techniques.

As program managers, Black Belts are responsible for managing a Lean Six Sigma transition, complex breakthrough projects or leading a number of improvement teams whose team members include Green Belts or subject matter experts. The scope of a Black Belt project is often cross-departmental. Often Black Belts are assigned full-time to breakthrough projects or to a transformation program. If an organization does not employ a Master Black Belt, the Black Belt can fill this role. We therefore pay a lot of attention to coaching, peer review and change management in this Black Belt training.

To apply Six Sigma techniques, we use Minitab.

For whom

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training is widely taken by project managers, department managers, (business) consultants and process owners. Participants come from many different sectors. This training is commonly taken by engineers or data scientists. The education level for this course is HBO/HBO+.

Objective Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training

After this training, as a Black Belt, you will have a comprehensive set of Lean and Six Sigma techniques to analyze processes in a different way. As a Black Belt, you can assess process performance more objectively and substantiate your findings statistically. Moreover, in this Lean Six Sigma training you will learn how to make organizations and processes more efficient and effective. This translates into lower operating costs, higher customer satisfaction and an agile organization.

Study load Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training

If you take the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course as a whole, it takes 16 days. You may also be able to take the course as an upgrade if you have previously taken Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training. You will get the most out of the Lean Black Belt training if you study the material after each block and preview the next training block. Our rule of thumb is 8 hours of class is 8 hours of preparation and study.

Black Belt Plus Package

When registering for this training, you can optionally choose the Plus Package. You will then receive a 12-hour coaching package and a voucher to sit for the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt exam. This international certification program is conducted by the LSSA (Lean Six Sigma Academy) in collaboration with the University of Twente. More information can be found under the “Price” tab.

During the training, the “Lean game” is played.

In training sessions specifically for industry, an aircraft factory will be simulated here. For Services, an “office game” will take place and a real situation will be simulated for Care as well.

Minitab software

Both to take the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course and to run your project, you will need Excel and a license of Minitab. Symbol is a Minitab Gold partner. This means that as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt student, you will receive a full Minitab license at no cost for the duration of the course.
