Van Bilsen Group: IATF16949 implementation
Last August, Martijn Timmer, John Foppen, Menno Gnodde of Van Bilsen Group passed their Internal Auditor IATF16949 exam. They attended open training at Symbol to lay the groundwork for the transition from ISO/TS16949 to IATF16949.
Van Bilsen has specialized in precision turning and milling since 1975 and is mainly focused on long-term regularly recurring complex product operations, where a high degree of automation and quality control are of added value to the customer.
Based on the idea of service, they want to provide customers with the best possible guidance in developing and producing their final product. This service idea is visible in the production where Van Bilsen has 3 FMS systems, which stands for Flexible Manufacturing System. These systems allow one to respond to the fluctuating demand of its customers. The systems achieve low inventories, faster operations and virtually no setup and changeover times. This allows Van Bilsen to compete with production companies from Asia, for example.
Active within the automotive industry
Martijn Timmer: “The automotive industry ensures that we control our processes better. We are constantly kept on our toes by the industry. Because we are ISO/TS16949 certified, in addition to automotive customers, other industries know where to find us. The requirements in the automotive ensure that we as a company are always continuously improving and further optimizing our production processes.”
Collaboration with Symbol
“The cooperation with Symbol is very good. After some exploratory talks, we have already attended several trainings at Symbol, which were always tailored to our needs and knowledge. The trainers have a lot of knowledge and practical experience and take the time to explain everything in a good and clear way and challenge you to make the translation to your own practice.” said John Foppen.
The Internal Auditor IATF16949 Training.
“The training covered all IATF16949 standard elements. This helped us take the knowledge of the standard within our organization to the next level. This helps us in our transition to the IATF16949 standard. The training was full of practical examples of how, for example, MSA, SPC and auditing are applied. It was also nice to follow the training together with other automotive companies, in order to also learn from each other.”
