Classroom training takes place at various locations throughout the Netherlands, so there’s always a convenient place nearby. Both forms of training offer access to our Learning Management System (LMS), which allows you to study the theory in your own time and prepare you optimally. There is also the accelerated Blended Learning Green Belt, which combines condensed classroom sessions with additional self-study through the LMS, so you go through the material faster. In-company training is also possible, fully tailored to the needs of your organization. Through Lean Six Sigma training, you gain deep insight into the business processes in which you work on a daily basis. You will learn to take a critical look at organizational processes and receive practical techniques to optimize them. The training will enable you to eliminate waste and reduce process variation. This results in shorter lead times, lower costs, improved quality, less workload and ultimately higher customer satisfaction.
Green Belt training helps you understand processes better and design them smarter. You will learn techniques to recognize and reduce waste, such as waiting times and unnecessary inventory, and how to prevent mistakes by making processes more consistent. In addition to the classic variants, we have developed two new specialized variants: the R&D variant, which focuses on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and time-to-market, and the 4o variant, which responds to innovations such as AI and the latest industrial revolution.
There are no specific entry requirements for the Lean Green Belt training. For the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training, HBO/HBO+ working and thinking level is recommended, because affinity with data and statistics is required for some techniques.
The duration of a Green Belt training course depends on the variant you choose. The Lean Green Belt training takes 5 days, while the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training covers 8 days. For those who want to learn faster, there is the Blended Learning variant, which lasts only 6 days. Our specialist R&D and 4o variants both take 8 days as well
The cost of Green Belt training varies by variant. The Lean Green Belt training costs €2,750, and the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training is €4,295. For the accelerated Blended Learning variant, you pay €3,895. The specialist R&D and 4o variants are priced at €4,795 (all amounts excluding VAT).
You can earn your Green Belt certification through the Lean Six Sigma Academy (LSSA). This certificate is internationally recognized and the exam was developed in collaboration with the University of Twente. In addition to the theory exam, we also recommend taking the practical exam. This allows you to apply your knowledge by carrying out a DMAIC project, which is then assessed by an experienced Master Black Belt from Symbol. This approach strengthens your skills and demonstrates your ability to deliver practical results.
Whereas the Green Belt focuses on local process improvement, the Black Belt takes a broader, more strategic approach. A Green Belt focuses on improvements within their own department, while a Black Belt leads more complex, cross-departmental projects and applies deeper technical knowledge. At Symbol, you can easily upgrade to Black Belt with special follow-on training so you can further develop your skills and make greater impact.
If you actively participate in the training and study the book Climbing the Mountain, the exam is doable. You will also receive a practice book, elaborations and a mock exam from the Lean Six Sigma Academy.
Yes, Yellow Belt certification is not required to participate in Green Belt training. No specific prior knowledge is required either.
Proactive participation is essential. Bring a current problem or improvement project to the training and, if possible, relevant data. Ask questions of the trainer and learn from fellow trainees. Read through the book in advance and complete exercises between training days to get the most out of the training.
A Green Belt certification is valued by many employers and increases your job opportunities. It can lead to promotion, a leadership role or more responsibility for process improvements within your organization.
The next step is usually taking the theory exam. Many participants already start a DMAIC improvement project during the training, which can be submitted for practical certification. Then you can advance to a Black Belt with Symbol’s special upgrade training.
In Lean Green Belt training and during the first four days of Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training, the topics in the first column are covered (Part I). The second part of the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt covers the topics listed in the second column (Part II). If you have taken the Lean Green Belt before, you can enroll in the Six Sigma upgrade training. Want to have your knowledge and skills officially recognized? After completing our Lean or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training, you can earn an internationally recognized certificate. This certificate is appreciated worldwide and is the confirmation of your expertise.
The theory exam is administered by the Lean Six Sigma Academy (LSSA), supported by reputable parties such as the University of Twente, APMG International and EXIN. You can take the exam in class and in writing at one of our locations or digitally.
Registering for the LSSA theory exam is easy with an exam voucher. This is available through the LSSA Webshop. The practical part of the certification is provided by Symbol and supervised by our experienced Master Black Belts. The Green Belt training provides valuable knowledge and skills in Lean and Six Sigma that will enable you as a project manager to achieve breakthroughs, such as cutting lead times in half and solving intractable problems. The training will enable you to identify processes and value streams, eliminate waste and make processes more efficient and stable. After the Green Belt, you can advance to the Black Belt, which allows you to lead complex projects and realize organization-wide improvements. This next step is ideal for those seeking more responsibility and impact.
Depending on the chosen variant, a Green Belt training takes 5 to 8 days. The format and number of days can be found under ‘Dates & Registration’. Our rule of thumb is that one day of classroom training also requires one day of self-study.
To take the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training course, you will need Excel and Minitab. Symbol is a Minitab Gold partner. Therefore, we offer a free 6-month license worth 750 euros with the training.
This means that as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt participant, you have a license for six months, which provides access to all the features of Minitab. Useful for example for the implementation of your Lean Six Sigma project.
