Digital Transformation
Smart Industry, digital innovation, big data, digital transformation … Just a few terms that, if the IT sector is to be believed, you cannot miss to survive. Globally, the term Industry 4.0, or the fourth industrial revolution, is often used for this. In recent years, this term has changed from buzz word to a serious strategy used by an increasing number of companies. We, too, are finding that more and more of our associates are engaged in implementing Industry 4.0 or aspects of it. But we also see organizations struggling with this transition or even hesitating to embark on it at all.
Industry 4.0 in Japan, Digital transformation roadmap and four more interesting workshops!
Symbol, in collaboration with its partners, is organizing another event this year to gain knowledge on the topic of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. We will start after introductions with a plenary keynote speaker. After that, you will attend three workshops of your choice in smaller groups. Among other things, you can experience for yourself in our Smart Experience Center how to deploy Process Mining and Minitab will demonstrate the possibilities of Predictive analytics using a real-life case study. LeanForms shows you how to work smarter and more effectively with digital forms, and CGI updates you on how they are executing digital transformation toward Unified Manufacturing. This event offers you the chance to expand your knowledge, network with experts and get inspiration for your business growth.
Immerse yourself in inspiring keynotes, interactive workshops and engaging discussions that will excite you and open up new possibilities.

Plenary session
Dick Theisens | Symbol
Japan 4.0
In May, Symbol traveled to the land of the rising sun with a group of 22 participants. The theme of this study tour: “How are Japanese companies, known for decades for their excellent manufacturing processes, coping with this digital transformation?” We visited the Dutch embassy, the Smart city “Haneda Innovation city” and several companies that have been digitally transformed in recent years. During this plenary session, we would like to share with participants the most interesting experiences and examples.
Plenary session
Coen Huesmann | CGI
Focus on digital development fields
Coen Huesmann leads CGI’s manufacturing competence center. With the motto Secure and Sustainable Solutions within Manufacturing, CGI guides companies in their digital transformation towards Unified Manufacturing. How do you tackle this? Where do you start and what does it ultimately yield? Using a number of practical examples, Coen will share experiences about what is involved and what companies encounter.
Workshop A
Roberto Mastrangelo | Minitab
Elevate decision making through Predictive analytics
Are you drowning in data but struggling to draw actionable insights? Do you want to unlock the full potential of your datasets and make more informed business decisions? Look no further! Join us for an enlightening session where we explore the power of predictive analytics within the Minitab Statistical Software environment. This session aims to help you understand how to leverage Minitab’s predictive analytics tools to foresee trends, optimize processes, and improve your bottom line.
Workshop B
Ricardo Meulstee | Symbol
Operational management 4.0
The workshop “Operational Management 4.0” introduces you to a modern way of conducting the daily standup meeting and performance management. A large touchscreen displays all operational data. This can be done, for example, with PowerBI. The systems can connect to the entire production device, as well as to other devices such as tablets and smartphones. This provides tremendous acceleration in discussing performance and the process of continuous improvement.
Workshop C
Anton Schaerlaeckens | LeanForms
Try before you fly
In this workshop on standardization in processes and workflow management, Anton Schaerlaeckens(LeanForms) tells his experiences with support from traditional ICT departments. But also the transformation from a formal, rigid ISO quality management which did not work in practice to a practical form of work with numerous Lean principles. A true business management system that does work and initiates continuous improvement almost automatically.
Workshop D
David van Eekhout | Symbol
Lean Six Sigma 4.0 roadmap
Many of Symbol’s associates follow the CIMM growth model to take steps in their transformation process. This growth model proceeds through five stages of development, within which various building blocks from the Lean and Six Sigma philosophy are used to achieve Operational Excellence. With the advent of Industry 4.0, many of these building blocks are undergoing modernization. Think Process Mining, data collection from the process, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Real time SPC, and so on. In this workshop, David will take you through these developments and the latest release of the CIMM 4.0 growth model.
