SPC involves the use of statistical techniques to measure and analyze variations in processes. The purpose of SPC is to easily measure the stability and capability of a process. This allows appropriate measures to be taken to improve and control the process. SPC helps us listen to “the voice of the process.

What is the content of Statistical Process Control training?

This training will cover the following topics:

  • Application of SPC within IATF 16949:2016
  • History and philosophy of SPC
  • Different type of data and data collection
  • Where and when to apply SPC
  • Basic statistical concepts such as mean, mean, median, range, standard deviation
  • Difference between ‘Common cause’ and ‘Special cause’ variation
  • Difference between ‘Process capability’ (Cp and Cpk) and ‘Process performance’ (Pp and Ppk).
  • Difference between specification limits and control limits
  • Treatment of the most commonly used control charts for “Continuous Data” (Individual-X; I-MR-Chart and Xbar-R Chart) and for “Attributive Data” (np-Chart; p-Chart; c-Chart; u-Chart)
  • Interpretation of control charts
  • The different types of ‘Out of Control’ rules
  • Implementing SPC in the organization and transferring SPC to the shop floor

For whom

Anyone closely involved in setting up and implementing SPC on the shop floor including managers, engineers and quality officers.

Objective

After this training, you will be able to design the most commonly used control charts, interpret the outcomes of control charts and decide whether a process is “In-control” or “Out-of-control. You can also make a statement about the capability and performance of your process.
